Diablo 2 patch 1.14 notes9/24/2023 While it is known that the engine caps at 25 FPS due to this being a sprite based game with a hard maximum number of animation frames per action cycle, it shouldn't be hitting 25 skip under any circumstances with modern hardware. OpenGL mode is forced now - software rendering is gone as the OS cannot render below 32-bit (millions) color even with something like SwitchResX. High DPI mice users are going to have issues with D2 1.14a as its mouse sensitivity selector does not work and >1200 DPI = very difficult to move the cursor with any precision. ![]() In-menu FPS jumps from 25 FPS / 25 skip to ~1850 FPS / 0-7 skip. Otherwise the GPU remains in its "idle state" even when playing in the game world. Oddly enough, opening a menu and waving the mouse cursor around ramps up the GPU to a whole whopping 624 MHz (GTX 780, OS X 10.11.3), but only while you frantically wave the mouse cursor around. ![]() It should be noted that the OS X version is currently experiencing horrible jittering and is locked at 25 FPS with 25 skip.
